SHAREit lets you transfer files from different devices like phones, tablets, and computers. Using direct Wi-Fi connections, SHAREit can send files, photos, videos, and apps from one device to another. When it works, it is awesome, but when it doesn't, there's little reason to try again.
The core feature of SHAREit is transferring files between people without having to use cloud storage. You can share photos, videos, local music files, documents, and apps from one device to another. It doesn't matter what platform you're using because SHAREit only communicates with other SHAREit-enabled devices.
It doesn't transfer data over a general Wi-Fi connection or Bluetooth. Instead, it creates a direct wireless connection with up to five devices like a small network. Once connected to another device, files can be sent and received. You can also clone a device and send its contents to another device.
The best part of SHAREit is that it's multiplatform, including Windows PC.
Being multiplatform also causes problems for SHAREit because you have to troubleshoot connection problems on different devices. Since SHAREit doesn't use a connection over a Wi-Fi network or Bluetooth, it has to create a direct connection with another device. This means the device creates a hotspot that other devices connect to.
The app also doesn't explain that you will need to adjust your Wi-Fi settings. In the Settings menu there are options to "prefer hotspot" when sending or receiving, but the app never mentions that devices will create hotspots to share data. SHAREit is also buggy. My first attempts at transferring files caused the app to freeze. Both devices had to restart SHAREit before the transfer worked.
When SHAREit does work, it is fast. Pictures transferred quickly. Video had an uneven transfer speed and transfers sometimes looked frozen. Once files transfers are complete, the app disables the wireless connection and reverts back to the original connection. This means if you want to share another file, you have to go through the steps of starting and connection to the hotspot again.
The main problem with SHAREit is that it claims to be easy to use but it's actually kind of confusing for the average user.
SHAREit has potential to be useful, but the lack of instructions and explanation make it frustrating to use. There's also a lack of polish and intuitiveness. Closing the hotspot connection makes sense, but having to go back through these steps to start another transfer is annoying.
There are a lot of easier options to transfer photos and files. SHAREit is good for video, but that depends on how large the file it.
SHAREit promises on ease of use, but hasn't reached that goal yet. If you want to transfer files, try Pushbullet.

VLC media player is the most stable, flexible and lightweight audio and video player around today, especially when compared to others that will play unusual formats after downloading a codec, or simply refuse to play things.
Also useful is the fact that you can use VLC media player to preview files you are downloading since it plays incomplete parts of video files. VLC media player is not just for video playback, however. It also offers superb integration with video channel streaming services such as Channels.com giving you access to channels such as ESPN, Reuters, and National Geographic. Just right-click or CMD-click on the playlist, select Services Discovery and Channels.com.
Channels.com will then appear in your VLC media player playlist. Click on it to reveal the different categories of channels available. Click on the category you want and a drop-down list of all available channels appears in VLC media player. Just click on the channel you want to watch and streaming should begin almost immediately.
VLC media player also has great hotkey support and if you take the time to learn the shortcuts so it can be controlled without touching your mouse. If you're watching DVDs or video files through it, this is not an issue. For music, it plays more or less any file and features an equalizer and playlist creation. VLC media player isn't as intuitive as iTunes as a media manager, but it's a much more flexible player in terms of file formats. You can even use VLC to convert your files, and on top of all the formats and physical media it will play, many streaming protocols and TV capture cards are supported.
VLC media player makes it easy to add subtitles to your video files too - just add the SRT file to the folder where your video is kept, and it will automatically play with subtitles.
Finally, the interface in VLC media player has been somewhat improved although it remains strictly functional. However, you can download skins to completely change VLC media player's appearance. The preferences menu is comprehensive without being overwhelming, and there is extensive documentation online.
VLC Media Player is quite simply the best multimedia application for Windows and Mac. It plays just about anything, hassle-free - what more could you need? If you are looking for free alternatives for this program, we recommend you to download KMPlayer, Winamp,
Google Chrome is Google's web browser. With it, you can open web applications and games with no hassle and, above all, quickly. It's the main alternative to Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Chrome is a young, fast browser that can browse any web page. It supports all major technologies and standards such as HTML5 and Flash.
With Google Chrome, as well as loading web pages, you can run complex web applications, like Angry Birds and Chrome Remote Desktop, completely free.
In short, Chrome is basically designed to be an operating system within an operating system, the window through which you run all your applications. In fact, that's the essence of Chrome OS.
Private, synchronized browsing
Incognito mode, a browsing mode which doesn't save any file on the hard disk is ideal for privacy: no stored cookies and no images to leave traces.
Totally personalized experience
A unique feature of Chrome is its support for multiple users, which allows shared use of Chrome on a single computer - essential if you have visitors who want to go online or if you only have one PC.
Google Chrome is a program that's very easy to use. Its single bar, Omnibox, lets you enter web addresses and search Google. Going on what you have written, Google Chrome then suggests results from your browsing history, favorite web sites, or applications you already have installed.
Another key point that highlights Chrome's usability is the quick start page, where you can access the sites you visit the most, your favorite web applications, or recently closed tabs (on your PC or on other devices you have synced).
Finally, the Google Chrome options panel is a single page where you can instantly find the settings you want to change. It's much more pleasant to use than the typical window full of tabs that you'll see in Firefox and Internet Explorer.
Clearing browsing data is easy. Go to the Google Chrome Tools menu and in Optionsopen the Advanced panel. There, click the Clear Browsing Databutton, and choose the time period and the type of data you want to delete.
When it comes to the Incognito mode, it's activated from the Tools menu or by pressing Control+Shift+N. You'll see how the window changes its appearance subtly to show that you're now browsing without saving data to your PC.
Exceptional performance and compatibility
From a system perspective, with its V8 engine Google Chrome is at the top of the competition when it comes to comparative speed. This performance improves with each version.
Compatible with all web standards such as HTML5 and Flash, Chrome loads PDF files with its own viewer. You don't need to worry about installing plugins or changing any options: Chrome does it all.
Special care on safety issues
When browsing, security is of utmost importance; Google Chrome filters pages that have viruses so you don't access them and it also loads each tab separately, so if a page becomes unstable, it doesn't shut down the browser.
More and more people are using Google Chrome as their primary browser. Its attractive design, superior speed and customization options make it a strong candidate to take the lead in the browser market.
The best alternatives? Only Opera and Firefox can hope to compete.

Normally, the popular messaging app WhatsApp is only used on mobile devices (Android, iOS, Windows Phone and Blackberry), however with the brand-new PC and Mac version of the app, you can finally use it from your desktop! All you need to do is simply install the WhatsApp program so you can chat with your friends straight from your Mac or Windows PC. Although it seems to work well so far, it is far from perfect.
Maybe you were already aware of WhatsApp Web - the version you could use from within your internet browser. WhatsApp for PC is exactly the same, however you don’t need to open a browser in order to use it.
WhatsApp for PC is also very similar to the mobile version of the app, so if you’re a daily use, it certainly won’t take you long to get the hang of its functions. This version offers everything you would expect to see (just on a larger screen), and offers the ability to chat, send and receive photos, documents and notes, create and manage groups, change your profile picture, etc.
It all sounds rather great, but there are some limitations to the app. For example, it doesn’t allow you to share you location, nor does it allow you to add new contacts.
Yes, although WhatsApp for PC is an option that makes life a little bit easier now and again, it isn’t something that’s going to replace your mobile device any time soon.
In order to start using the PC version of the app, you need to first scan the QR code using your mobile device, just as you would with WhatsApp Web. If you have any questions about this procedure, click here for a complete tutorial.
After scanning the code, the WhatsApp account you have registered to your phone will be associated with the new one on your PC, and you can begin chatting!
The options in the desktop version are beautifully arranged (reminiscent of WhatsApp for Android). The truth is that it doesn’t take much effort from your part to find anything you need and is simply a pleasure to chat at a much faster pace thanks to the keyboard. If you have a webcam and/or microphone, you also have the ability to send photos/videos/audio clips.
Another great thing about using the PC version is that internet connections tend to be faster than those on mobile, therefore data transfers are much quicker and straight forward.
All in all, WhatsApp for PC works just fine, but it does depend entirely on your phone. You can chat directly from your PC, however your mobile device needs to be connected at all times. With this limitation in mind, it puts it behind its rivals such as LINE and Telegram, who each have their own independent desktop versions.
WhatsApp users have been asking for a desktop version for ages, and finally they have it, despite not being 100% what they were expecting. Although the version works extremely well and offers almost all the same features as the mobile version, it doesn’t have one of the most important – the ability to work independently. We can only hope that Facebook, who acquired the app back in 2014 will notice the flaw and we might get a nice surprise in the next update.
IObit Uninstaller, as the name indicates, is a software tool that helps remove installed software from your computer. The tool makes sure your computer is devoid of unwanted programs and plugins, helping make your PC cleaner and faster.
Most computers have multiple software programs installed, with only a few being in active use. These programs aren’t just occupying storage space but they also affect your system's performance. Malicious toolbars and plug-ins added to your browser could amass your personal data for illegal use. Some of these tools could even redirect you to phishing websites.A typical uninstall would not delete a program in its entirety. There certainly would be some leftovers, which IObit Uninstaller would take care of. IObit Uninstaller not just cleans the slate completely but also does that at a fairly good speed.
The tool works by creating a point of system restore as a backup. It then runs a program’s default installer. The computer is then scanned for leftover entries and files, which are subsequently deleted. Please note, there's no need to go through the process. If uninstalling specific programs is all you need, you can choose this option. File shredding and a few other functionalities are optional. The app shows a list of installed apps with checkboxes. By just checking the apps you don’t want and hitting the “uninstall” button, the app automatically removes all your unwanted applications.
Adobe Flash Player is an essential plugin for your browser that allows you to view everything from video to games and animation on the web.
Adobe Flash Player includes a range of interesting additions and improvements when compared to previous versions. Top of that list is the inclusion of support for the H.264 video codec and the HE-AAC audio codec, which together offer a much richer, higher-definition picture along with crystal-clear sound. Introducing these capabilities in Adobe Flash Player with only slightly reduced performance looks set to trigger another revolution in web video, as HD movies are already an important element on YouTube - and they look and sound great!
Adobe Flash Player irons out some of the problems that previous versions have suffered from (like security and stability issues), as well including support for ActionScript 3.0. It also makes fantastic 3D graphics possible. This makes for more dynamic and interesting navigation, games and interactivity on websites.
Adobe Flash Player represents a leap forward in terms of quality as well as stability and security. It's therefore a highly recommended download for all users.

To secure your internet connection, Hotspot Shield creates a Virtual Private Network (a secure connection, usually abbreviated to VPN) between your computer and the Hotspot Shield developer's website, Anchorfree, based in the USA. This connection makes websites think that you are based in the US.
The major reason why users are flocking to Hotspot Shield is because it allows you to view US websites that are usually restricted to people who don't live there. This is particularly useful for video sites such as Hulu or region-restricted restricted videos on YouTube.
Hotspot Shield now includes malware protection meaning that while using it, you shouldn't get infected by anything that may damage your system.
Everything is done in an extra tab open in your browser, so there's no need to configure anything. A green and red shield in your system tray indicates when Hotspot Shield is or is not connected. The VPN is encrypted with 128 bit SSL encryption so you can surf safely without worrying about others intercepting your data.
Hotspot Shield generally works very well. It is ad-supported, however, and be warned that it tries to install a toolbar, although you can opt out of this. If you've got Expat Shield installed, you'll also need to remove it before installing Hotspot Shield. Bear in mind that surfing with Hotspot Shield is noticeably slower than normal, but it's fine for streaming video from video sites such as Hulu.
If you'd like an app that allows you to access other types of blocked and banned sites, check out the rest of our VPNs and access apps here.
Hotspot Shield is easy to install and a useful way of accessing sites and protecting your privacy.
