Holy Bible King James Version Few Sample Paragraphs from The Holy Bible eBook, Genesis (OT) 1 Gen. 1 IN the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. 6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. 9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. 11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day. 14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. 20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. 24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

Genre: Religion & Spirituality
Publish Date: October 06, 2010
Publisher: Altiora Publications

This eBook allows you to grasp the basic principles of Buddhism in just a few minutes. Much has been written about Buddhism and how to practice it. Readers will have no difficulty finding hundreds of books on the topic. It simply focuses on the essence of Buddhism, as expressed in the Four Noble Truths and the Eight-fold Path. It is what the Buddha first talked about after he became enlightened – this is what makes it the essence. Reading this eBook should not conflict with your existing religious belief, since strictly speaking, Buddhism is not a religion. It does not extol belief in an external God. It does not seek to replace your existing religious beliefs, only to supplement them with a practical but profound set of psychological principles. The Buddha, in all likelihood, would rather his followers describe themselves simply as Followers of The Way.

The Book of Jonah the Prophet is full of wonderful spiritual contemplation. Our aim in this book is to tackle purely the spiritual side, and not the theological side. Our aim is to benefit and not to debate. We wish to take from this beautiful Book beneficial lessons for our life. We wish to benefit from God's work and from people's virtues and faults. How beautiful is the Church's choice! She chose this Book to be the prelude of the forty days of Lent! A beautiful story of repentance and fasting precedes the Great Lent by two weeks, that we may approach the holy forty days with a clean heart attached to the Lord. It is remarkable that many of those who study the Book of Jonah concentrate on the people of Nineveh and their fast and overlook the mariners and Jonah with his problem. Pope Shenouda III

Publisher: ZTF Books Online

A disciple of Christ is a person who has, first of all, received the Lord Jesus Christ as his or her personal Saviour and is therefore reconciled to God, and, secondly, has set his whole heart, mind and all to seek Him. The disciple makes Jesus his all and forsakes everything that may stand in the way of his fellowship with Christ. Such a one has Christ for his all in all and desires nothing outside of Him. Such a relationship with Christ in which he becomes our all in all is very costly and, since the Lord Jesus warns us to count the cost, let us look at the cost.

Genre: Islam
Publish Date: August 15, 2014
Publisher: Talal Itani

Perhaps the best Quran English translation. It is clear, easy to read, and very faithful to the Arabic original. It closely follows the Arabic text, and often reminds the reader of the Arabic original. It uses today's English language, and today's English vocabulary, thus it is easy to read and understand. The flow is smooth, the sentence structure is simple, the meaning is clear. This Quran translation has no interpretations, no footnotes, and no explanations. It is a pure translation of the Quran, from Arabic to English, and it does not try to emphasize any school of thought. The text purely and accurately translates the Holy Quran, from Arabic, into contemporary English. It was translated by a Muslim, who saw firsthand the miracles inside the Quran. His native language is Arabic; his everyday language is American English. For 15 years, he studied the Quran. For many years, he translated speech between his mother and his wife. For a living, he develops quality software. The Quran is the last Book from the Creator. It contains guidance, mercy, and healing. The Quran is a blessing, within reach.

The gifts and the fruit of the Holy Spirit are both supernatural expressions of God and intended to encourage and comfort the body of Christ, but they are different in many respects. Because of unbelief and ignorance, the church has two common problems concerning the spiritual gifts – either a lack of use of the gifts or a misuse of the gifts. When Christians lack spiritual fruit, the church is sick but when Christians lack spiritual gifts, the church is not strengthened. This short eBook clarifies the difference between the spiritual gifts and spiritual fruit and explains how Christians can both bear fruit and use the gifts for God's glory.

How do we possibly convey the love, respect and gratitude we feel for the women in our lives – and for the fortitude and accomplishments of women everywhere? In Judaism one option is Eishet Chayil, an ancient poem from the Book of Proverbs traditionally sung on Friday nights. “A Woman of Valor, who can find? She is more precious than pearls,” the poem declares. With each recitation of Eishet Chayil, we have the opportunity to connect with the women we love and to acknowledge the successes and sacrifices of all women. Whether you sing this prayer every week or are interested in starting a new tradition in your home, this book helps you connect to the text emotionally and intellectually. “Give her the reward she has earned,” Eishet Chayil concludes, “let her deeds bring her praise in the gates.” We hope this book sings to you with a full heart, that you may experience the depth of appreciation this poem offers and ultimately make your Friday nights more meaningful. _________________________________ Read this book yourself : Add depth and meaning to this ancient poem and weekly ritual. Send this book as a gift: Show the women in your life how you value them by sending this book on Mother’s Day – or anytime of the year.

In the Buddhist tradition, meditation is used to defuse the source of all the trouble-the illusion of self and other. In Ch'an (or Zen), the aim is to overcome thought and defilement. Having done this, and with thoughts no longer stirring, the real substance of mind becomes evident. Without thoughts and without the illusion of self and other, greed, anger and hatred have no place to arise.

Dr. R.C. Sproul has often asked unbelievers who deny their need for a Savior, “What do you do with your guilt?” The question often breaks through sinful complacency, because feelings of guilt over sin are common. Unbelievers may ignore their sense of guilt, rationalize it, or desensitize it, but it is there. It points to the fact that all people are objectively guilty before God. So what must we do with our guilt? In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. Sproul shows how God can use our feelings of guilt to reveal our true guilt in His sight. He then prescribes the only remedy—the forgiveness that God has provided through Jesus Christ. Here is solid biblical counsel for those who hear the accusations of their consciences.

The stories follow approximately the chronology of the Bible, but the New Testament stories end with the Ascension of Jesus. The stories are by no means an attempt to summarize each book of the Bible, but instead they're a compilation of the better known Bible stories written in a language that children can understand. The stories were written more than a century ago.

Another quality eBook from Chapel Library. Charles H. Spurgeon (1834-1892) urges us to look closely at our Saviour’s description of prayer in the text of Mark 11:24 and discern prayer’s essential qualities. We are directed to earnestly desire the definite objects we plead for, believing that we will receive them, and immediately acting in a manner that demonstrates we have received them. Spurgeon next directs the reader to avoid an empty, merely habitual form of prayer, and seek instead to obtain that new life which allows the cultivation and continuance of the true spirit of prayer. Finally, Spurgeon directs the reader to look up and cry out to God for forgiveness for indifference toward this mighty weapon. May we rejoice, for the Master is awake and will give us what we need.

It is also the nature of this life that people have to put up with suffering and hardship for various reasons. People feel regret for what has happened in the past, anxious about what may happen in the future, and worried about what is going on in the present. The things that cross our minds and make us feel distressed are things in the past that have caused grief, things in the future that we are worried about, and things in the present which concern us. People react differently to stress and worries, depending on how many things are concerning them, whether the worry is continuous or not, and on whether they have faith in their hearts or are rebellious and sinful. People's worries and concerns will also differ, according to the differences in their motivations, circumstances and individual responsibilities. This book gives examples of different kinds of stress and worry, and discusses them in some detail.

In 1885, a young Bostonian, William Sturgis Bigelow, entered formal training at Homyoin, a sub-temple of Midera near Kyōto under Sakurai Ajari, a direct disciple in Enchin's Jimon line. After a number of years, Bigelow received inkan shomei , or formal ordination into the Tendai school, adopting the Buddhist name of Gesshin Koji and returning to the U.S in 1889 to spread the word. And spread the word he did. Bigelow's lecture, Buddism and Immortality, given in 1908 as part of the Ingersoll lecture series, provides a wonderful insight into his understanding of the Buddhist and Indian concept of consciousness ( avidyā ). It is well thought out, clearly articulated and thoughtfully given to an obviously skeptical audience given the time period.

Luther did not impose himself as reformer upon the Church. In the course of a conscientious performance of the duties of his office, to which he had been regularly and divinely called, and without any urging on his part, he attained to this position by inward necessity. In 1515 he received his appointment as the standing substitute for the sickly city pastor, Simon Heinse, from the city council of Wittenberg. Before this time he was obliged to preach only occasionally in the convent, apart from his activity as teacher in the University and convent. Through this appointment he was in duty bound, by divine and human right, to lead and direct the congregation at Wittenberg on the true way to life, and it would have been a denial of the knowledge of salvation which God had led him to acquire, by way of ardent inner struggles, if he had led the congregation on any other way than the one God had revealed to him in His Word. He could not deny before the congregation which had been intrusted to his care, what up to this time he had taught with ever increasing clearness in his lectures at the University — for in the lectures on the Psalms, which he began to deliver in 1513, he declares his conviction that faith alone justifies, as can be seen from the complete manuscript, published since 1885, and with still greater clearness from his Commentary on the Epistle to the Romans (1515-1516), which is accessible since 1908; nor what he had urged as spiritual adviser of his convent brethren when in deep distress — compare the charming letter to Georg Spenlein, dated April 8, 1516

Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christians. Although they believe in the New Testament, it is their own incorrect translation that is misconstrued to suit their beliefs. They do not call themselves Christians, but ‘Jehovah’s Witnesses’ - ‘Jehovah’ being a name of God used in the Old Testament. Their doctrine regarding the Lord Jesus Christ is completely different to the Christian doctrine; it is a mixture of the heresy of Arius, and other new heresies. They have even reached a level much worse than that of Arius by far. Many governments have expelled Jehovah’s Witnesses from their countries because they sensed the danger which they presented to the country’s general peace. Therefore, it can be said that they do not only propagate false religious beliefs, but they also propagate dangerous political ideas. As they say that the Church is a product of the devil, they also say that governments are a product of the devil, and encourage people not to enter the armed forces. They also consider saluting the flag as idolatry. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in the immortality of the soul and say that this is the teaching of the devil. They also say that after a person dies, he lives happily in the ‘earthly paradise’, thus contradicting all the promises of the heavenly kingdom. This booklet is merely a collection of articles that were published in the ‘El-Keraza’ English magazine, and which we considered publishing and distributing as an introduction to the upcoming book. Pope Shenouda III

New, updated, and annotated edition.

And the very God of peace sanctify you completely, that your spirit, soul, and body be preserved whole without reprehension for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

Christians who pray well, who bring the largest things to pass, and who move God to do great things, are those who are entirely given over to God in their praying. God wants, and must have, all that there is in us. We must be wholehearted people through whom he can work out his purposes and plans concerning us. God must have us in our entirety. No double-minded people need apply. No vacillating person can be used. No person with a divided allegiance to God, the world, and self can do the praying that is needed. Holiness is wholeness, and so God wants holy people – wholehearted and true – for his service and for the work of praying.

This book challenges the reader to first make sure he is ready to pray, and it also shows from Scripture when and how we ought to pray. E. M. Bounds examines the lack of prayer and its causes, but he also includes examples of answered prayer to give hope to those who feel like their prayers aren't being answered. Some may experience guilt for their lack and inconsistency of prayer, but sincere Christians will also be stirred in their heart to pray, and to pray well.

About the Author
Edward McKendree Bounds was born in Shelby County, Missouri, on August 15, 1835, and died on August 24, 1913, in Washington, Georgia. He was admitted to the bar in 1854 at the age of nineteen, but left the profession five years later when he answered the call of God to the ministry. Beginning in 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, he became the chaplain of the 5th Missouri Regiment of the Confederacy.

Bounds married Miss Emmie Barnett of Eufaula, Alabama, in 1876. By this union, he became the father of two daughters, Celeste and Corneille, and a son, Edward, who died at the age of six. His wife Emmie died in 1886, and later Bounds married Miss Hattie Barnett, Emmie’s cousin. Together they had six children: Samuel, Charles, Osborne, Elizabeth, Mary, and Emmie. However, Charles died at the age of one, so in the end, the family consisted of seven children.

After serving several important churches in St. Louis and other places to the south, Bounds became editor of the St. Louis Christian Advocate for eight years and, later, associate editor of The Nashville Christian Advocate for four years. The trial of his faith came while he was in Nashville, and he quietly retired to his home without even asking for a pension. His principal work in Washington, Georgia (his home), was rising at four o’clock in the morning and praying until seven o’clock. He filled a few engagements as an evangelist during the eighteen years of his life work in Washington, Georgia.

The history of questions with me is lengthy. Since I have been ordained a Bishop on September 30,1962, over twenty-five years ago, I adopted a specific method in teaching and preaching: to give a chance for the audience to introduce their questions and have them answered before the beginning of the main lecture. This way thousands of questions accumulated before me during the thousands of lectures that I have given, in the weekly spiritual meetings, on Friday evenings; the Bible study meetings on Tuesday (1968-1972); the theological lectures on Wednesday; my meetings with the priests; with the Sunday school teachers and their conferences; the meetings of college societies; general meetings in Alexandria, on Sunday; the lectures that were given in the theological seminary in Alexandria and Cairo; or the spiritual meetings during my visits to churches and dioceses. Even before my monastic life, I used to answer the spiritual questions of the readers of the Sunday school magazine and the questions followed me everywhere, even in the monastery. The questions varied some around biblical verses, some about theology, doctrines, ministry, spiritual life or social relationships and many other subjects... I excluded what was repetitious, personal, or what I answered with one sentence or a joke. I chose what was fit from the questions for publication, so the people would not have to ask the same questions again and to have almost uniform answers to such questions. Pope Shenouda III

The Blessings of Prayer, written by the Promised Messiah in 1893, is a refutation of Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan’s view that there is no such thing as the acceptance of prayer, and that prayer is no more than a form of worship. The Promised Messiah rejects this view and proclaims that Allah hears and accepts the supplication of believers which are offered in humility and sincerity, and that the acceptance of prayer sets in motion its own chain of causes which culminates in the fulfilment of the objective prayed for. In the second part of the book, which deals with Sir Sayyid Ahmad Khan’s other book Usulut Tafsir (On the Principles of Commentary of the Holy Quran) , the Promised Messiah presents his criteria or guiding principles for the correct interpretation of the Holy Quran.

Many born again Christians believe they have two natures within them, a new Christ-like nature and an old sinful nature, which war against each other. They believe that their new nature loves God and wants to practice righteousness, but that their old nature loves sin and wants to practice lawlessness. They think that their Christian life reflects whichever of these two conflicting natures they yield themselves to the most. However, this “tale of two natures” is not Biblically true. Many Christians have become overcome by sin and hopelessly discouraged because they have swallowed this lie, while countless others have become deceived by this lie and their self-righteousness into thinking that, through willpower and self-discipline, they can change and control their sinful behavior. This eBook is intended to put an end to this lie, so that God’s people could know (and believe and act on) the truth and power of the cross of Christ, and come into their full inheritance as sons and daughters of God.

Many Christians think it is wrong to ever judge another person’s conduct. However, this is not Biblically correct. Spiritual discernment and godly judgment is a God-given gift that should steadily increase as we progressively walk in God’s sanctification and love. An unScriptural fear and aversion to “judging” has caused many Christians to mistakenly think they can never lovingly confront a fellow Christian who is practicing sin. It has also led many Christians to think they can never discern whether someone (who claims to be a Christian) is really following Jesus Christ or not. This eBook clarifies the difference between properly judging and improperly judging others, and explains how to judge others correctly according to Jesus' teaching.

Many Christians believe God is infinitely happy and that He also wants us to be happy. They believe the idea of sorrow and suffering is negative thinking that should be avoided at all costs. However, this is a false gospel. It ignores the whole counsel of God as revealed by His Word. Many Christians mistakenly believe the pursuit of happiness is God’s purpose for their lives and is their God-given right and entitlement. However, this directly contradicts the Bible, which declares the pursuit of holiness is our God-given purpose and obligation. Multitudes are now reaping the godless fruit of pursuing temporal, earthly happiness and pleasure instead of the righteousness, peace and joy of God that comes by faith; and the church has been severely compromised by buying into this false gospel. The Bible is also clear we cannot pursue the holiness of God without suffering here on earth.

The Gospel accounts give us the greatest example of how to truly disciple people effectively. The twelve disciples had the distinct and wonderful privilege and blessing to have the greatest “disciple” in the history of the world train them in their mission of life. One of the tools that Jesus used as the “Great Discipler” was the use of parables. If we follow the Gospel accounts and Jesus' use of these parables, we begin to see a process of discipleship from the first parable given to the very last one spoken to His disciples just prior to Jesus' passion. They form a "lesson plan of discipleship." We can say that these parables, put in chronological order as given within the Gospel accounts, bring the disciples through a process of growing from "infants" in this new way of life, to becoming the men that would ultimately be used by God to radically "change the world." We invite you come along on this journey with Jesus. Lose yourself in time and imagine as if we are traveling with Jesus through the regions of Galilee; sitting with Him by the Sea of Galilee, sitting with him along the roadside as He teaches the crowds; visiting the cities of Capernaum, Nain, Jericho and of course Jerusalem. We will be listening to the “Great Discipler” as He disciples His disciples. We will be listening but I pray that we will be "hearing?"

Repentance, my brethren, is not only for those beginning their life with God, but is for everyone, even the saints. It is part of our daily prayers. Every person needs repentance, no matter how great his position or his spiritual level. We are all in need of repentance, in need of it everyday, since we sin everyday. For there is no person without sin, even if his life was one day on earth. With repentance, we prepare our hearts for the dwelling of God, and with purity, we will see God (Matt 5:8). Repentance is the beginning of the path towards God, it is a friend along the path till the end. Repentance was therefore one of the fundamental topics, on which I lectured frequently since the beginning of my work as a Bishop of Christian Education approximately twenty years ago. I delivered many lectures on repentance in St. Mark's Hall in the Monastery of Anba Rewais, in the youth meetings and in university groups. Also, I presented other concentrated lectures at the Angel Church in Damanhour, at St. George's Church in Al-Mahala Al-Kobra and in other cities, especially between the years 1965 and 1969. After all, do you think I had collected all of what was said about repentance? This is undoubtedly not the case. The topic of repentance is huge and has many branches, it mingles with many other topics from the spiritual life, it mingles with contemplations on the psalms and the sections of the Agbia, the book of Revelation, the book of the Song of Solomon, Romans 12, the characters of the Bible and into the lectures on salvation. It remains to say that the topic of repentance and purity is open.... It is a whole life.... Pope Shenouda III

In 1820, a young farm boy in search of truth has a vision of God the Father and Jesus Christ. Three years later, an angel guides him to an ancient record buried in a hill near his home. With God’s help, he translates the record and organizes the Savior’s church in the latter days. Soon others join him, accepting the invitation to become Saints through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. But opposition and violence follow those who defy old traditions to embrace restored truths. The women and men who join the church must choose whether or not they will stay true to their covenants, establish Zion, and proclaim the gospel to a troubled world. The Standard of Truth is the first book in Saints, a new, four-volume narrative history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Fast-paced, meticulously researched, Saints recounts true stories of Latter-day Saints across the globe and answers the Lord’s call to write history “for the good of the church, and for the rising generations” (Doctrine and Covenants 69:8).

This raises a very important question: if we received the Holy Spirit when we were saved, then why do we need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit after we are saved? This eBook explains the reason why every serious Christian needs to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, and also clarifies the proper use of the gift of tongues, our God-given new language.

A great number of clergymen from various churches heard His Holiness give evidence from the Holy Bible and from tradition relating these two subjects, to which the Orthodox Church is gravely opposed.. The Rig Veda is established as the earliest work not merely of the Hindus, but of all Indo-European languages and humanity. It lays the foundation upon which Hindu Civilization has been building up through the ages. Broadly speaking, it is on a foundation of plain living and high thinking. Life was simple but though high and of farthest reach, wandering through eternity. Some of the prayers of the Rig Veda, like the widely known Gayatri mantram also found in Samaveda and Yajur veda touch the highest point of knowledge and sustain human souls to this day. The Rig Veda itself exhibits an evolution and the history of the Rigveda is a history of the culture of the age. The Rig veda, in the form in which we have it now, is a compilation out of old material, a collection and selection of 1,017 hymns out of the vast literature of hymns which have been accumulating for a long period. When the Rigvedic texts was thus fixed and appropriated for purposes of the Samhita, its editors had to think out the principles on which the hymns could be best arranged. These show considerable literary skill, originality of design, and insight into religious needs. First, it represents Rishis were chosen and their works were utilized to constitute six different Mandalas.

The second book of this series "Theology in Public" presents a great figure, St. John Chrysostom, and his theological teaching. One of the most significant sermons of Chrysostom is the one which bears the title "On the Devil." Chrysostom answers the timeless questions about the relationship between evil, demons, man and God. Who rules the things of this world? The answer seems simple, God. But why then is there so much suffering and injustice; why do the poor and the righteous man suffer and the unrighteous and rich man flourish; why do wicked men move unharmed and instead pious and honest men suffer? Since God is omnipotent and benevolent how can the power of evil in the world can be explained. Are demons an independent principle and their wickedness determining the progression of reality, and if so to what extent? On the pages of this homily, Chrysostom gives answers to these questions and also explains how the charity of God is combined with His righteousness.

The accounts of all the events recorded in this book are exactly as the author experienced them both physically and spiritually. In other words, it is indeed at true story. The author has decided to change the names of the characters involved as the objective of the book is not to accuse and condemn people, but to expose the evil works of Satan and its demons in our churches especially in this endtime. The book aims to shed more light on the evil ways through which the devil deceives, seduces, lures, ensnares and entraps unsuspecting Christians using its human agents who pose as men of God. That is why the true identities of the characters involved in this story are irrelevant for they are merely insignificant, tiny, puny puppets of the devil their evil puppet-master. Even if you labeled and ostracized them from Christendom, the devil will still raise up much more of such puppets to take their place in the churches hence we should focus more on how to identify them in our midst as the “wolves” in sheep clothing according to Bible prophecy pertaining to this perilous endtime that we live in today. What is important is our endtime battle against the Antichrist’s deadly devices, wiles and lies of our common enemy, Satan the evil-puppet master whom the Bible say is definitely not flesh and blood. (...For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places...Ephesians 6:12)

This Quran translation is available in two editions. This edition (A) uses the word "Allah" to refer to the Creator. Edition (B) uses the word "God". The Quran is the last Book from the Creator. It contains guidance, mercy, and healing. The Quran is a blessing within reach.

Mere claims do not prove that a certain religion is true. The distinct hallmark of a true and living religion is that it establishes the existence of God in every age and with undeniable evidence. In this work, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, explains that Islam is a living religion that is not based on tales of the past, but possesses the power to endow its followers the ability to manifest miracles and signs even today. A tree is recognised by its fruit he states, and the fruits of Islam can be tasted by all even today. The author takes up the challenge of Dr Henry Martyn Clark to engage in a debate that he said would once and for all settle the differences between Christianity and Islam, and determine the superiority of one over the other – a debate dubbed ‘The Holy War’ by Dr Clark. The author presents copies of correspondence between Dr Clark and himself, as well as letters to and from the Muslims of Jandiala, who were to be represented in this debate. It also contains the conditions settled for the aforementioned debate and proclaims a prophecy regarding Muhammad Husain of Batala.

Joy is a popular topic in Western culture today. Books explain how to find joy in a wide variety of activities. We speak of “joyous” occasions such as weddings and births. We sing about “Joy to the World” at Christmas. “Joy” remains a popular name for girls. But given the extent to which joy seems to be on our minds, few people seem to have it or even know what it is. In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul cuts through the confusion surrounding this popular but misunderstood attribute, showing the one sure path to deep, lasting joy—a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. By abiding in Christ, Dr. Sproul shows, we may experience fullness of joy—a joy that transcends unhappy circumstances and even permits us to rejoice with others because of the blessed hope Christ provides.

Does prayer make any difference? Does it really change anything? Yes, says Dr. R.C. Sproul in this Crucial Questions booklet. Though we cannot hope that our prayers will change God’s mind, prevailing upon Him to act against His will, we can be sure that prayer does change things—including our own hearts. Plus, it is one of the chief means by which God carries out His will in the world. For these reasons, Dr. Sproul argues, prayer has a vital place in the life of the Christian. In short chapters packed with practical wisdom, he unveils the purpose, the pattern, the practice, the prohibitions, and the power of prayer, calling Christians to come before God’s presence with joy and hope.

That Is That is a collection of articles that captures the essence of spiritual inquiry and provides the reader with a real transmission of Presence on every page. It offers an experiential exploration of who we really are. Nirmala's warm-hearted and accepting presence makes it possible to drop into the space he so eloquently describes, where peace, love, and joy abide. Here are sample quotes from the book "The real treasure in this moment is always to be found in the awareness of this moment, not in the content of our experience. So it's not that important if something you like is happening or not. Discovering this simple perspective is like discovering you live in a candy store: Everywhere you turn is another goodie! Beyond that, is the recognition that this endless supply of goodies is what you really are. You are not the content of your experience; you are the awareness that brings life and joy to every experience. Talk about not having to worry about what happens! Nothing that happens can change what you are, and what you are is the biggest treasure. It is hidden in plain sight, right in front of you, always in the experience you are having right now." "When it's finally okay for the moment to be just the way it is-including the fact that we identify with a me and therefore battle with the moment-then more of our experience can be recognized and included in our awareness. If we are willing to be present to and allow our identification and whatever else is happening, then it's also possible to notice something beyond identification, something beyond our struggle and effort to maintain a me. What that something is, for lack of a better word, is Being." "Inquiring into what is true about this very moment can put us in touch with the beauty and wonder that is always present in this mystery called life. Not only is there nothing problematic or bad in the here and now, but there is also a limitless amount of depth and richness to be found in the present moment. Everything that really matters, such as peace, joy, satisfaction, connectedness, and love, is found in the here and now, and only in the here and now. To experience this fullness and wonder, there's nothing we need to do except question the conclusion that peace, joy, satisfaction, and love are not already here and then look to see if they are. Is any peace present right now? Is there any love at all in this moment? What is that peace like? What is the nature of the love that is here now? Asking these kinds of questions is all it takes to get in touch with the amazing richness of the present moment." "Spiritual inquiry isn't meant to lead you anywhere except where you already are. When every experience, including the most ordinary, is so mysterious, there is no need for a profound experience of bliss or cosmic light. If you happen to have an experience of bliss, then you can explore that. But for now, why not explore what is already here?" "Suffering ends when our attention is flowing toward what's actually happening, what's true in the moment. Suffering is the distance-the gap-between what we are oriented toward and what is. However large the gap is between what is actually happening and what you are putting your attention on is how much you will suffer. If there's no gap, then there's no suffering."

A fraud, a madman...or God incarnate? No person in history has provoked such widely divergent assessments as Jesus of Nazareth. Some say He was a cunning fraud, while others say He must have been out of His mind. In many cases His story is altered to suit the fancies of those seeking to make Him an ally for a host of militant causes. However, as Dr. R. C. Sproul points out in this Crucial Questions booklet, there is compelling evidence that Jesus was something more — that He was, in fact, God in the flesh. By wrestling with the biblical titles for Jesus and the accounts of His life and ministry, Dr. Sproul unfolds the scriptural portrait of Jesus, the Son of God. As a gifted communicator, R.C. Sproul has helped many believers grow in their understanding of such matters as the nature of God, the history of redemption, and the manner in which we are saved. Now Dr. Sproul’s lucid teaching on these vital matters is available in a series of concise booklets that are perfect for personal learning and refreshing, as well as small-group study. The topic of the Holy Spirit sparks much interest these days, but also much confusion. Thanks to extra–biblical assertions about the Spirit’s person and work, ideas abound as to who the Spirit truly is, how He operates in time and space, and what precisely He does. In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul cuts through the confusion by going back to the Bible. He establishes the biblical teaching on the Spirit;s identity—He is one of the three persons of the Godhead, along with the Father and Son—then briefly sketches some of the most basic yet important roles the Spirit carries out. He shows that the Spirit gives new life to unbelievers, then sanctifies, strengthens, teaches, and anoints them for ministry. This booklet provides a basic understanding of the divine person on whom Christians’ very lives depend.

There is a common assumption that the Bible is “full” of errors and contradictions, and that its often-unusual people and events render it useless for today. These ideas are fueled by the teachings of scholarly critics, who seem to delight in raising questions about the Bible’s truthfulness and integrity. But the critics of the Bible are wrong, according to Dr. R. C. Sproul in this Crucial Questions booklet. In fact, he says, there are many solid reasons to trust the Bible. With Jesus, with the apostles and prophets, and with men of God throughout church history, Dr. Sproul affirms a high view of Scripture—that it is inspired of God and therefore inerrant and infallible. As a gifted communicator, R.C. Sproul has helped many believers grow in their understanding of such matters as the nature of God, the history of redemption, and the manner in which we are saved. From the author of the beloved Miller's Creek novels (Christian fiction), comes this Bible study guide about how to protect and defend Christian faith. Each human being--on their journey and search for truth--must at some point reflect on life and answer important questions. Why am I here? Is there life beyond life as I now know it? How did the universe and man come into existence, and how does the answer affect me? In addition, each person must then make life or death decisions on the truth they uncover. This book addresses hard questions that accompany the search for truth. It also gives answers to win the lost and win back defectors. The Bible study guide is written for: those who struggle with faith, many times because of skewed perceptions or even anger; those who profess faith in the unseen, but find it difficult to live out; and finally those whose faith is strong, but who need information to combat the arguments and questions of others. This book addresses the following: -The Danger of Unbelief - Why faith is truly a life or death matter. -Proof of Intelligent Design - Evidence that exists for a Supreme Being. -The Problem of Evil - The number one hang-up people have with God. -Proof of Jesus as God - Jesus always claimed to be God. -Proof of God's Love for Mankind - The sacrificial act all time hinges on. -God's Plan for Us to Believe and Know - We don't have to wander in darkness, chaos, and confusion. -Faith Matters - The case for faith in an unbelieving world. This Bible study guide was written as a companion to the spiritual theme of sharing and defending faith found in CROSSROADS, Christian fiction and the sixth stand-alone book in the Miller's Creek novels. WHAT READERS ARE SAYING: "Whether you are searching, a new believer, or someone who has been walking with the Lord for awhile, this Bible study is for you. I found much meat and food for thought as I worked through this Bible Study. Cathy's insights and applications were most helpful. If you are looking for a Bible study to help you grow or to help you share, this is for you!!! Highly recommend this study to one and all." "This Bible study is good for both non-believers and believers. For Christians, the topics covered in this book will challenge us to be more faith-living and prepare us to explain our beliefs to those searching. The section, Bible Study Suggestions, provides excellent directions for getting the most from your reading." "I would encourage you to get and read this book. Study it. Use it to help you reach out to those who don’t know the Lord." "Do you know what you believe and why you believe it? Can you defend your beliefs if someone questions you? We are admonished by Paul to always be ready to answer for our faith, but I know many times I am intimidated to stand. In this Bible study, Cathy Bryant gives us the tools that can help us be prepared to explain our faith in God. Backed by Scripture and accompanied with thought provoking questions, this study will help you get grounded in the Word so you can talk to others about your own personal walk with God, the creator of the universe." Have you ever struggled with faith? Have you ever had difficulty believing what you've been told all of your life? Do you feel that you cannot talk to friends and family about doubts, concerns, and questions because they will not understand and will judge and condemn you? I constantly feel like I'm bombarded with the messages of others and their demands that I believe what they believe. If I have troubles, there is no one to turn to because they all stick to their hostile, textbook answers.

Most people today believe that we live in a closed, mechanistic universe, that is, a universe that functions from day to day according to certain physical forces and causes. Classical Christianity has taken a very different view, teaching that God is the primary cause of the universe, but also that He is the primary cause of everything in the universe and of everything that happens in the universe—in short, that God, not mechanistic forces, is the primary cause of what is and what happens. In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul explores and explains the Christian doctrine of providence, the teaching that God is the sovereign ruler of the universe. He then deals with some of the philosophical and theological questions and objections the doctrine raises. His teaching challenges popular assumptions about the universe and exalts God as the sovereign ruler and sustainer of all things.

Baptism is taught in the Bible and has been practiced for centuries, but understanding of its meaning and respect for its importance is at a low ebb today. Confusion reigns over questions about its mode and its place in the life of the Christian, and as a result, even many evangelical congregations are downplaying its significance. This is not the way it should be, Dr. R.C. Sproul declares in this Crucial Questions booklet. Baptism, he affirms, is one of the two sacraments of the Christian church, a sign and seal of the covenant of grace. Therefore, it is a necessary and meaningful practice that is packed with rich symbolism. In this booklet, Dr. Sproul provides help in understanding and appreciating this practice of the church.

As human beings, we long to know that our lives will unfold in ways that we will find pleasant and rewarding. As Christians, we have a different focus—we want our lives to be pleasing to God. Thus, we ponder His will and worry that we are not doing what He wants us to do. In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul outlines timeless principles for discovering and applying the will of God in day–to–day decisions. He then illustrates how these principles should inform two of the most significant decisions we face in life—the choice of a career and the choice of a spouse. Here is valuable guidance for those who are passionate to follow God.

The Trinity is truly a mystery. This doctrine teaches that the God of Christianity is one in His essence but three in His persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Though the word Trinity is not found in the Bible, there is no doubt that the Scriptures teach this triune nature of God. Yet the concept still challenges our finite minds. In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul carefully explains the doctrine of the Trinity, stressing that Christians worship one God who manifests Himself in three distinct persons. He shows what the Bible teaches and outlines the chief errors on this doctrine that have afflicted the church. Above all, he affirms that while this truth is difficult to understand, it is not contradictory. Rather, it is a beautiful expression of the biblical teaching on the nature of God.

The word faith is heard often these days, but it is given many different meanings. Sometimes it is used in the sense of trust. Other times, it has more to do with hope. Perhaps most often, it is used to mean belief in something apart from rational or empirical support. Because faith is central to the Christian life, believers must have a clear understanding of how the Bible defines the word and the concept. In this Crucial Questions booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul looks to Hebrews 11, the great faith chapter of the Bible, for a definition of faith and numerous examples of it in the lives of the saints. He shows that faith, in scriptural terms, is not believing in God but believing God and living according to His Word. Armed with this helpful teaching, readers will gain clarity as to whether the faith they profess is the genuine article.

In Walt Disney’s classic animated movie Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket sings, “Always let your conscience be your guide.” The Bible confirms that the human conscience is real and important, but it also shows that the conscience is not always a reliable guide to making moral choices, for it is twisted by sin. Therefore, a Christian conscience must be nurtured and developed. In this booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul shows that this development involves learning and mastering the many principles God has laid down in His Word, and even in creation itself. In other words, we must know and understand God’s law. As we gain a firmer grasp of what God expects and requires, we are increasingly able to make decisions that please Him.
