We're going to use this update not to give you the latest graphic showing the progress of the LEGEND devices from the production floor to the shipping process, but instead to give you some good news about enhanced perks for our Backers.
As we've said previously, we understand both your excitement for the device and disappointment with the revised delivery timelines, and we want you to know we care deeply about your customer experience and passion for LEGEND (and motorsports in general).
That being said, we're happy to announce we are extending the free FanVision video activation benefits from one year to two calendar years from the date you receive your device.
We will be sending additional correspondence about your benefits when we email you confirmation your device has shipped, so please be looking for that in your inbox.

In our January 26 LEGEND update, we listed a projected ship date of April 6 for the 301 devices purchased by our 280 Kickstarter Backers. We are informing you today that we have made a necessary change to the device battery so that it will perform up to all our standards. Our supplier has confirmed it will be delivering those devices to our production facility in Shenzhen, China this week.Â
Upon receiving the new batteries, we will conduct 3-4 days of quality control checks with the new battery seated inside the LEGEND device. The battery has already been benchmarked and we believe it will perform as expected with LEGEND, but we need to run it through this one final review to make sure your LEGEND performs flawlessly. Those of you who follow tech trends are aware Android device giant Samsung recently concluded significant testing to identify battery flaws that impacted two different mobile devices. It happens to the biggest of us.Â
So letâ€™s jump into our new expected delivery timeline, as itâ€™s obvious by todayâ€™s date the projected shipping on April 6 was not met:
And weâ€™ve heard some of you loud and clear, and we can commit to doing better on our updates during the remainder of the process. And hereâ€™s what weâ€™re going to do â€“ weâ€™re going to post a graphic to this very section that provides an easy visual to show where we are as each step is completed. Every time we complete a phase of what we just outlined, we will update the tracker.Â
And as we have stated previously, we will be keeping a close eye on shipping dates from Concord and the upcoming race weekend(s). If you prefer to pick up your LEGEND in-person at the RE Flagship Store at one of the first two races after we begin shipping to Backers, we will work with you to determine your best option.Â
We have a total of 368 LEGEND devices that have come off the production line in Shenzhen and are awaiting the new battery. Weâ€™re sure these photos and video are welcome visuals to our Backers, who have waited with great anticipation for their devices.Â
For some of you, this may be the first time youâ€™ve seen the inner workings of a Shenzhen production facility. For others who have seen coverage of the Apple or Samsung facilities in the city, these visuals should be familiar, given the assembly process â€“ a mix of by-hand and machine â€“ is identical.
During the development process, our design team produced a prototype of LEGEND with a dark gray housing. At that point, we decided to produce LEGEND in both the original â€śRE Redâ€ť and the dark gray. At this stage of our production, we have approximately two-thirds of our inventory in dark gray.
We will be reaching out to you via email this week to secure your preferred LEGEND color. We will be taking the requests on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if you receive the color you donâ€™t prefer, youâ€™ll be able to exchange your device with us for the other color, free of charge. Weâ€™ll also honor that exchange even if youâ€™ve used your LEGEND because we want you to begin enjoying the device features at your earliest convenience. We expect to have thousands of devices off the assembly line in May.Â
